Having a new baby arrive in the family is one of the most exciting things that we can ever experience. The arrival of this bundle of joy, causes one to forget the unwanted experiences from the past that caused any pain and/ or sorrow. Things we may have gone through before we knew this baby.
As I sat in the hospital with the baby in my arms, I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed with an array of feelings. I was happy to see this new family becoming a package of devotion. To see this little guy’s sleeping face brought warmth and love to my soul. I just wanted to hold on and never let him go. This is the same feeling you should have about your relationship with God. Hold on and never let go. The more you get to know Him the more you want to feel his presence. As I placed the baby in his mama’s arms I watched his parents love on him, protect him, and at the same time be concerned over him and his welfare. I can see their minds attempting to picture the way this new life was going to be as they proclaimed their new future. They were moved with so much passion for their baby boy. It was in itself a wonderful experience to be a part of. I was reminded of a bible verse, Isaiah 43:19. It says: “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert”.
In the same way that this new baby, this little cluster of joy, caused all of us to leave the past behind, forget what happened, and look forward to the new beginning, we too should do the same for the new year upon us. I encourage you to leave what ever 2016 had for you behind. Look to this year as not just a new year but new beginnings and changes. I order to full fill your upcoming destiny do not pick up what you have left in the past. Be inclined to see some unacceptable or unwelcome setbacks at times, but if we do our part and we are obedient to what the Lord asks us to do, those changes will come. Just the same, when God promises to make things new for us, shouldn’t we do our part to see those changes come to pass? Be a part of that change and take a step to make it happen. God has already opened the door for us, Let us take that step to walk through it. So unless we do something to cause those changes to happen, we will see little to no results. Just as I am sure this new family was feeling a mixture of reactions. Us to as the new parents, can be full of joy and at the same time can’t help but be frightened for what’s to come. When something new happens in our lives, although scary, we could also be excited because it brings something fresh. We should step into this new life knowing that we should not fear, because there is always something better waiting for us. Even though this new life may not be without trials, there will always be someone (God) there to guide us. Someone who know has been ahead and knows what we will go through. So lean on God, who is acquainted with you. The one who accepts you. The one who no matter what you’ve done or how long you’ve been gone, He will always wait for you with open arms.
This coming year we should be expecting new things. We should see this new year as not just a new life, but a new beginning. Because just as a child brings new life so does God. That verse from Isaiah 43:19,I quoted earlier, is such a timely reminder not only for this new family but for us as well. As it points out that God is doing something different. He’s making changes to prepare for what’s to come. New beginnings, new blessings, new strength, and renewed faith. So no matter where we were; where we are; or where we are going, that something will always comes along with declaration of a better tomorrow.
Have a prosperous and Happy New Year my friends!
